Girlguiding Commissioner Drops In to the Studio

Shannon and Tom were joined in the studio recently by Sarah MacDougall, the county commissioner for Girlguiding in Inverness-shire
Sarah told listeners about the activities that Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers and Young Leaders take part in.
Some of the 'traditional' badges may still seem familiar such as Sarah's favourite, baking. But, the organisation has really moved with the times to feature badges that relate to what the girls and young women who are part of Girl Guiding see in the hear and now, like vlogging or even mixology (soft drinks only of course)
So much to gain from being a guide, and even more as a volunteer leader
Sarah spoke about her passion towards girl guiding and how her involvement in the organisation gives her transferrable skills to her day to day life and work. As someone who has been in the same unit since she was 7, Sarah is very committed to her unit and the whole community. The feeling of seeing the girls grow and develop new skills and gaining confidence and important life skills makes her volunteering so rewarding.

Girlguiding relies on it's volunteers
All leaders in Girlguiding are volunteers who give up their own time to benefit their community.
If you are interested in volunteering, or have a girl in your care that might be interested in joining their local unit, head over to https://www.girlguiding.org.uk or find out more about the local groups at their Facebook Page.
